About

I'm an economist who has spent his career where policy, markets and technology meet. I started at the International Monetary Fund, moved into global finance with Deutsche Bank and as Chief Economist of UniCredit, and then joined GE as Chief Economist and Head of Business Innovation Strategy, at the heart of the digital-industrial revolution. Along the way I served on the Board of Advisors on Information Technology of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, as Entrepreneur in Residence at GE Ventures, as a Research Fellow at Autodesk and as Visiting Faculty at Singapore Management University.

Today I advise business leaders and investors on how the global economy and new technologies will reshape their markets, and I write about it every week in Just Think.

PhD economist (Princeton), but with an optimistic twist.

Beyond economics

When I'm not reading charts, I'm either writing fiction or behind a camera. Some of my photographs are on 500px, and my novella I, the AI, co-written with Luca Silipo, comes out in December 2026. More at marcostoryteller.com.
